On behalf of the Organizing Committee, we would like to invite you to the 8th Asian Conference on Clinical Pharmacy (the 8th ACCP) to be held from July 1 to 4, 2008 at the Hyatt Regency Hotel, Surabaya, Indonesia.  This year, we have been working tirelessly to ensure that the program is advanced, practical and comprehensive so that each participant can gain new ideas as well as share their own experiences on clinical pharmacy.  A forum and a clinical skill demonstration that have been presented in the previous meeting are still presented to ensure that every participant becomes fully engaged and is able to express opinion freely.  We also paid considerable attention to ensure the program is well-balanced with clinical practice, education, and research.

The theme of the meeting “Toward Harmonisation of  Education and Practice of Asian Clinical Pharmacy” highlights the importance of harmonisation of education, practice and research for clinical pharmacist in hospital and community in Asia in implementing pharmaceutical care.  Asian countries have made considerable progress in education, practice and research in this field, however most still faces many challenges. We hope that this meeting will promote the development of clinical pharmacy in Asia.

We sincerely thank all country representatives, China, Japan, Korea, Malaysia, Thailand, Philippines, and Singapore for their valuable contributions.  Without an excellent cooperation from all member countries, this meeting would not have been successful.  The meeting is supported by many universities, public and private sectors in Indonesia and we are grateful for their supports and assistance. We also sincerely thank our colleagues from the USA, Canada and Australia and UK for their admirable supports and valuable recommendation.

In addition to the outstanding scientific program, participants will be able to enjoy the culture and sights of Surabaya and Indonesia.  We heartily encourage you to extend your trip and join the post conference tour in Bali.

We look forward to seeing you in Surabaya for a stimulating and enjoyable conference.
